Before I get into what I liked (and didn't like) about this book, here is a summary of it: Truesight by David Stahler Jr. is a dystopian novel revealing what might happen to society if it is not carefully watched. At the beginning of the story, it is revealed that everybody in the community is purposely born blind to ensure unity, purity, and freedom. When children turn thirteen, they are assigned a new role and join the workforce and food is carefully rationed for each family . To the main character Jacob and everybody else in the community, this model is perfect. Jacob’s whole life comes crashing down when he starts to experience pain in his eyes. As time goes on, Jacob’s pain mysteriously develops into sight. With sight he starts to see injustices in the world around him and also experiences the beauty of seeing.
